A performer for over fifty years, Frank Foster performed with the biggest names of 20th Century American Jazz and Pop: Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Ray Charles, Thelonius Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Elvin Jones, Lionel Hampton, Lena Horne, Roland Kirk, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Rollins and hundreds of others from the 1940’s to the new century.

At the end of this recording, Frank Foster says, “We’d like to thank you all very much. It’s about an hour past closing time so we gonna say goodnight. We’ve enjoyed playing. I’d like to introduce you to the fellas as they sort of pack up…. I’ve been told I’d better stop!” After which he introduces his band. The only name we cannot hear is of the trombonist “? Holmes.”
