Trip to Biodome with Synergy

Clarkson's NYWEA traveled with Synergy, a club that practices sustainability on campus, to the Biodome in Montreal. Six students attended. We explored the Biodome, Montreal Insectarium, Montreal Botanical Garden, and Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium. The Biodome has four main ecosystems, tropical forest, Laurentian forest, Saint Lawrence marine ecosystem, and the Subpolar region. Tropical Forest is a replica of the South American rainforest. The Laurentian Forest is a replica of the North American wilderness. The Saint Lawrence Marine Ecosystem is a model of an estuary habitat on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The Subpolar Region is a habitat that is divided into Arctic and Antarctic. At the planetarium we got to view two showings and learn more about our solar system, especially Mars. This was a great opportunity to learn more about our local environment. Also, it was a great opportunity for Synergy and Clarkson NYWEA to make stronger connections and ultimately interest more students in being involved with both of our organizations.
