Jan Scrimgeour

Jan Scrimgeour, Assistant Professor

Jan is an applied physicist with interests in microscopy, soft matter physics and biomaterials. He received a M.Phys. in Optoelectronics and Laser Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Scotland in 2001, before earning a D.Phil. in Physics from the University of Oxford in 2005. As a Postdoctoral Fellow he discovered the fascinating world of soft squishy things sometimes known as biology. Jan joined the Department of Physics at Clarkson University as an Assistant Professor in 2013. His interdisiplinary research group utilizes techniques from physics, chemistry and biology to tackle problems in advanced quantitative microscopy, soft materials and cell biophysics.
