While at Clarkson, Raught captained the women’s basketball and volleyball teams, she was a member of the Society of Women Engineers, Chi Epsilon (civil engineering honor society), Tau Beta Pi (engineering honor society), and Phi Kappa Phi (university honor society), and she was active in her church. During her 35 year career at ExxonMobil, she held various engineering and management assignments in Exxon’s production operations in Texas, U.S. environmental and regulatory groups, worldwide project management, and recruitment, career development, and staffing. She was a charter member of ExxonMobil’s Upstream Women’s Leadership Team formed in 2003 to provide leadership and mentoring, and to increase the company’s ability to recruit, retain, and develop women professionals. She is the mother of three daughters, Julie, Rachel, and Katharine.
In this interview clip, Raught discusses that she had 10 to 12 job offers during her senior year, that she chose ExxonMobil in Texas, and that during her first field trip to the oil and gas fields, she was greeted by a sign that said, “No dogs, women, or children allowed.”
