Founded in 1911, Tsinghua University—one of China’s most prestigious universities—is situated in former Qing Dynasty imperial gardens surrounded by many historical sites in northwest Beijing. Currently offering over 60 undergraduate programs, Tsinghua University has more than 13,000 undergraduate students, and enrolls nearly 18,000 graduate students. At present, about 3,000 students from nearly 100 countries attend Tsinghua University.

Believing in the principle that the quality of the university depends on the quality of its faculty, Tsinghua has more than 2,800 teachers, and has the highest number of academicians and nationally renowned teachers of any college or university in China.

The students had quite the unique experience. Because the campus is over 4 million square meters, a bike was absolutely necessary. However, only one bike was given to accommodate for two students. Thus, through a series of humbling and humiliating scenarios, the two students successfully mastered the one person-converted to two person bike. Furthermore, the driver acquired quadriceps equivalent to that of Lance Armstrong.

Dining halls were found to be exquisite, however, left the consumer feeling as though he was a thief.  Breakfast prices ranged around 2.7 RMB ($0.42), and lunch and dinner never exceeded 6 RMB ($0.93).  Furthermore, the food selection allowed Tsinghua-ners to attempt at a variety of various foods (see “We ate what!?!” for further information).
