It is famous for its busy roads and crowded sidewalks. Also, it is home to numerous schools including Tsinghua University, Peking University, the University of Science and Technology, and the China University of Geosciences, so there are many students in the area. It is easy to find English speakers, as well as spotting international students. Wudoakou has its own subway station as well, not to mention dozens of bus stops in the area, so it is very easy to get around to other parts of Beijing from Wudoakou.

Because there are so many students in Wudoakou, there are many places to eat in the area. It is easy to find familiar restaurants Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, and McDonalds if you really feel the need to fulfill the American urge after a long day Description: Description: http://www.ebeijing.gov.cn/feature_2/ResidinginBeijing/PopularNeighborhoods/W020090518598951759398.gifof research. (However, if you study at Tsinghua, you may want to eat all your meals there because the food is very cheap). There are also many popular drink shops to get a cold bubble tea or fruit drinks such as Color Tea, It’s Time To, and Fruit Pop (I personally recommend all three of Description: Description: http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/23103851.jpgthese places, they each have dozens of delicious beverages, which are great on a hot summer day in Beijing.) Wudaokou is also home to a Lotus supermarket, one of our favorite places. The supermarket is full of good foods that are very cheap.
