It was an unforgettable summer. Way beyond all our expectations.

Having known each other only for a few days we were thrown into a completely new environment and culture, unsure but eager for what was to come. We never could have guessed the multitude of great memories we were going to make.

Experiences in the city, daily life at DUT, shopping at New Mart, dumpling making, graduate students, Shanghai trip, KTV, train rides, birthday celebrations, magnum ice cream bars, pool, soccer, pickup basketball games, movie nights, dinners, lunches, research, beach barbeques, home cooked dinners, bungee jumping, talking with locals, fruit markets, trust mart, caving, fish markets, three wheeled cars, Friends, Jessica and Lance, biking in Hang Zhou, Baby Face, Light Coke, ANSYS, what does MOSES stand for?, airport delays, Irene, PowerPoint presentation days, Mom and Pops, and especially foods: pineapple chicken, bok choi, kung pow chicken, spicy beef, pumpkin soup, eggplant, donkey, red tofu, hot pot. This list could go on and on and on.

The REU China program not only provided us with exceptional research experience, providing us with concerned mentors, supportive graduate students, uncharacteristically good work facilities, and boarding, it bestowed upon us life changing, eye opening experiences that will affect the way we see the world for our years to come.
