In a research project funded by the Port Authority of Singapore an Oil Spill Model will be developed to simulate the fate and transport of oil spilled in the Singapore harbor and Malacca straits. Singapore is the largest port in the world. This is a joint project between Clarkson University and the National University of Singapore. The modeling domain has complex water current structures and rapidly varying water depths. The model developed is to be used by the authorities for contingency planning, impact assessment, and detecting sources of oil spills.
